How can we help others?
Some do it by charity, some do it by virtue of choice. Most of us want the best for others. The few do not. We instruct our children in the ways of the world and try to put them on a path. At times it is a mirror of our own path and other times we set them out on their own, like aligning the model train on the rails, before it sets off.
How can we help others to find their light? Their inspiration ? My contention is that we do not. We work on finding our own. We start by finding our own light. And pray tell how do we find our own, the curious one inquires. By breaking. Like peeling away the onion to the core, which brings tears. What we do with our light is then our choice.
Once broken and shattered, the cracked open heart feels everything. It is opened by feeling, and is nourished by grace and gratitude.
When our heart is hurt and in pain we see the world just as fragmented. When our heart is healed we see the world filled with peace and opportunity. When the heart is empty, it only sees emptiness.
When the heart is closed, we see the world through our minds. A judgmental minds sees the world as hostile, violent, scary. The world mirrors the mind’s muddy reflections. Yet an awake mind will see the stillness of balance and harmony. It sees synchronicity as the hand of God playing in the water. It is the still of mind, that bears fruit by opening the heart by allowing it to do what it does best, to feel, to reflect the divine.
So how can we help others? We help ourselves heal first. We give ourselves permission to feel, to radiate and then to ignite the candle flame in someone else’s heart. That is true help. And it all started with us.
