Janmashtmi.
Today is One of the most sacred and holiest day for Hindus. All religions and cultures worship the day their prominent deities are born, or rather when the divine comes to earth in human form. A birthday celebration if you will is conducted, filled with self reflection, fasting, adorning fresh clothes and spending time in prayers, enjoying the favorite pastimes of the Lord.
It is the birth of Krishna, the 8th avatar of Vishnu, the supersede personality of Godhead. Re-enactments of His life from the time of birth and his great achievements to bring light back into the world through teachings of love, righteousness, dharma and wisdom are all part of this festival. JAN ( meaning birth) ASHMTMI ( meaning 8) denotes him being born of the 8th day of the dark fortnight of the holy month. A festival of color and light, yummy foods ( after fasting) and prayers and dancing bring the path of deeper understanding.
Krishna like other deities in the Hindu pantheon comes to earth at a time when righteousness was being threatened and the balance of good and bad was upset. Defeating evil and bringing back the good is very much a part of human consciousness, where it is not just the external war that is being fought. Yet each of us regardless of creed, religion, gender, race, age are in a constant battle to keep ourselves in balance of good and evil based at times on outward morality and social ethics.
Yet this time of self contemplation and reflection is an opportunity for letting go of all external influences and finding the depths of our soul with our intuition and striking that chord with the divine to truly find the right path. Realignment with our soul purpose and journey is the true message of the messengers from divinity throughout the ages. Love. The quintessence energy that we all seek. Not in the flesh or infatuation but in the connection with divinity.
Love is that which aligns us to divinity and to that ultimate realization that not only we are love as well, but we are that divinity that we seek. Not front eh ego, but from the heart. Christ in latin is Christos. In Sanskrit that same term is Krishna. We have more similarities than differences yet we choose to look at what keeps us apart rather than what brings us together.
The message of Christ and Krishna and countless other messengers has been the same. remember who you are. Love. We are the universe just dancing in human material garbs called bodies experiencing life. It is wise to not forget the soul who drives the body beyond the busy mind. “God” has sent so many teachings from the ancient times to the present for us to re-member ourselves with the grand collective consciousness, as a loving parent would constantly remind the child of the right path. We seem to not learn any lesson the first or the upteenth time.
Happy Janmashtmi. Krishna brings love and wisdom to us all. Can we look beyond our noses of judgments and fears to surrender to it? I am going to try harder. You too?
……………….
I love you
