Can’t do it alone. None of us can.

Our mind tells us that we can do anything alone. We do not need help. It is a sign of weakness to ask for help. Receiving help makes us weak and diminishes from who we are. This is a typical thought when we try to persevere and do hard things.

I will tell you that we do need help. Humans are a cooperative species and it is through helping that we have evolved from our hunter gatherer days to the present. Our growth depends entirely on each of us working with each other selflessly not selfishly.

During my recent 50 mile run, I needed plenty of support from my family and friends to encourage me, assist in the nutrition, keep me company during those lonely distances. The mind may be alone to pursue a goal, yet the body and heart needs help. But this is not arrogance, it is wisdom.

When we step out of our fears and our desires for independence as individuals , a culture, a society, a nation, we are reminded that we are supported by the universe in a state of love. if we look around we may be surprise to find that the earth itself relies on its neighboring planets for protection from stray comets and harmful celestial objects within our solar systems. In fact our sun’s warm electromagnetic embrace creates an envelope of safety for us as we hurtle through the cosmos.

It is the fallacy that we are separate from our creator through our ego mind that destroys and hurts us. It is in the understanding that through our heart we are more connected than alone. Our hearts may seem to be irregular and individual although they all beat in unison to the pulse of the heart of the universe. Every celestial object, earth, planets, sun has a heart beat. All pulsing with the vibrant energy of love that permeates the cosmos across time and space, past, present and future.

The blood of life is love and we each dependent on it and each other. Learn to love those around you, those who you have never met, those yet to meet, those forgotten, for whether it was our ancestors or when we become the ancestors for the future, we all depend and need each other.

……………

I love you
