They say that the “writing is on the wall”. A curious expression, to illustrate that there are clear signs that something is going to happen. Well then I would say that the signs of change are in the leaves. I noted the leaf colors turn a subtle shade of yellow and some red and auburn. Autumn is coming. Yet before the visual of the stunning colors, I could feel the change over the last few weeks. All creatures can sense a shift of the seasons.

Our cells begin to feel the time to get ready for the transformation, as we slowly inch our way towards winter. As the moon revolves round the earth emanating its influences, so too do the seasons. We are nurtured to begin to look inward as we we approach the colder temperaments. All of nature is invited to slow down their processes, decelerate their behaviors and get ready for hibernation of the external, while their internal climate gravitates its energies and be ready for the spring season next year.

There is a gradual demarcation of transformation that blends from one time to the other, yet the beauty is being in tune with the change as it is happening. This requires patience, awareness and presence to explore how subtly the flow occurs. Like being in tune with the knowing of when the fish will come to bite the extended out bait on the hook in the water. It may take hours or minutes but being connected to the water and its rhythms help us to know when that moment arrives. The same goes for us on a daily basis.

Change is occurring in our bodies and minds regularly but most of the time we are too preoccupied to appreciate the changes till we see ourselves in the mirror and find we are not the same person as we were in the past. We only “see” ourselves as we leapfrog and not as we make the metamorphosis day to day. If we are present with ourselves, we can feel it in our bones, and not just when we ache.

The signs were always there, whether on the wall or in our cells and heart. It is what we do with the writings and signs that makes the difference on the impact of our lives and its trajectories.

I love you
