Remember what I said about breaking that comfort zone barrier and living outside it?

Did it again…this time swimming πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ

First time ever in a wet suit… OPEN water swim and did 1 mile !!

It was scary at first…. vulnerable to say the least..

I am a decent swimmer…. In the pool !!

But strapped in a tight wet suit.. cold ish water, and nothing to hold onto except my buoy… life gets vulnerable fast…

Heart rate rose, shortness of breath as the anxiety kicked in… so did the disorientation…

Felt weird as a cardiologist I help others with their lives.. and here I am focussed on saving my own..

Once I got over the fact that I can’t really drown in a wet suit… and focussed on simply breathing then things got better…

Do what i know not what I don’t….

so I followed my learnings from swimming aficionado and expert coach Sydne Didier
and “just keep swimming”

It was beautiful… head to the left.. breathe… see the sun set, head back in water.. head to the left.. breathe.. see the sun set.. rinse and repeat

Flow.. trust the process.. don’t fight the water..

So grateful to have some amazing athlete friends to be with on my sentinel voyage…

Everything is better with friends !

So the learning for me that I would like to share…. don’t rush… be in the moment… trust….surrender… flow…

Open water has a whole new feeling of expansiveness, majesty, grounding and magic…

Going beyond is that powerful evoltuionary trait which all humans are born with in their DNA …

We push our boundaries of fear when we are ready.. and sometimes when we are not… we grow.. we explore… we adapt… and do it all over again……

They say that space is the ultimate frontier..

I think it’s the human heart… for once expanded there is no going back… and everything else of fear, Judgements, mindsets… is just programming and background noise
……………
I love you
